Rangoli colour safety
The tips on this site are general information. Traditional rangoli is made with rice flour, white stone powder and natural colours like haldi, kumkum and gerua, but many colours sold in shops are synthetic dyes. Keep children from breathing in or eating the powder, wash hands after making rangoli, and avoid glitter and chemical colours near small kids and pets.
Diyas and candles placed on or near rangoli are an open flame. Keep them away from curtains, loose clothing and dupattas, and never leave them burning unattended.
Accuracy
Making times, sizes and colour quantities are estimates for an average person with some practice. Your results depend on your skill, the floor and the powder you use.
